My eLf-ness

An image sent to me by my friend Jayge, who said that his seeing this reminded him of me Posted by Hello

Many people usually think that elves always refer to those diminutive and mischievous characters of fairy tales. Thanks to the return to popularity of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, which brought back into mass awareness the more noble essence of mythological elves: "...a race of beings similar to humans but fairer and wiser, with greater spiritual powers, keener senses, and a closer empathy with nature."

Therefore, to which type of elves do I belong? Actually, it doesn't matter anymore, as long as you don't forget the L in my name. Besides, I would like to believe that I possess a few of each elfkind's traits: the most pronounced of which are the peskiness and (pa-)cuteness of fairytale elves and the literary and musical inclination of the mythological elves.

Many friends had already asked in the past about the significance of that capital L in my name. Here's my answer:

The L stands for two middle names—of my father, Edgar L(orenzana) Mella, and my maternal grandfather, Conrado L(anuza) Vera Sr.—two persons from whom I inherited so many tales and real-life stories, part of the reasons I fell in love, since childhood, with reading and writing.
