It feels so good, helping people :)
Here're excerpts from e-mails from Alfie, a person I respect and admire. These are the kinds of things that remind me that regardless of what happens to me, I can still be a good person and be there for others:
Dear Andrea,
If I haven't told you yet, I wrote in one recent letter of mine to a friend: "I now believe in signs."Yes, I used to not believe in such concepts as "signs," "fate," and "hope"; but--whether this is anti-me or anti-cool, especially to someone who has long become as nonreligious as me--necessity, I would have to say, has compelled me to embrace again such words of hope. But, lest I be misconstrued, my beliefs and spirituality remain the same.
Signs...Thank you! For, as soon as I began reading The Alchemist, I've become a Paolo Coelho fan. I always pass by his other books every time I visit a bookstore, included them on my list of books to buy, yet always found myself settling for another book. And, yes! I also always see Warrior of the Light: A Manual and, sifting through its pages, gives me the itch to buy it, thinking that there must be something in store for me in it. And now that you have just recommended the book to me, I would take it as the sign to buy it after all.
Actually, I'm planning to buy first Veronika Decides to Die, but now I changed my mind--that would have to give way to Warrior of the Light...thanks to you.
"Here's one passage that after a while reminded me of you"--how sweet and thoughtful of you..."and I figured it could help you"--you figured the correct shape, for I know it surely would.
"A Warrior knows that his best teachers are the people with whom he shares the battlefield." Are you considering me a Warrior? If so, then I regard you one of my best teachers.Hey, that June 6 "intellectualization" of ours has made its mark.

i like paolo coelho too. i have the alchemist, warrior of the light, veronika decides to die and by the river piedra i sat down and wept. i didn't like veronika that much, so yeah, get the warrior first before getting that book. i loved by the river piedra though.

Nice to learn that you're also a fan of Coelho. I enjoyed reading your blog entries, too. Amazing to know that we're discovering each other all over again after so many years. I miss those band days!
