Miranda Foods on Notre Dame on Fire
Winnipeg Local News: September 8, 2012
One of the long-running and popular Filipino stores in Winnipeg--Miranda Foods, on Notre Dame Avenue near Spence Street--burned at around 3 a.m. today. According to the other onlookers we talked with a while ago when we chanced upon the place, it was caused by a garbage bin that caught fire early this morning. The owners of the establishment lived on the second floor; fortunately they got out even before the fire eventually blazed up the building. Nobody was hurt. The police and the fire department have already contained the fire and secured the area when we passed there at around 11 a.m.
We usually bought from there cooked food as well as meat. The owners are good acquaintances of ours. We hope that they get through and move on from this sad incident as soon as possible.
